If you're an author, I highly recommend narrating your own books. First, it feels like you're telling your story which really gets me engaged in the book. Second, you know how to pronounce any unusual names or places correctly!

I found Babylon (2022) too exhausting to watch. Turned it off after struggling through the first 45 minutes. I think there are parallels with Boogie Nights (1997) - language, nudity, depictions of violence. In Boogie Nights, those elements propelled the story forward. 1/

A friend is interested in exploring #silentfilms. I suggested a few later Buster Keaton films (natch') because I think they're timeless, really funny and family friendly. What 3 silent films would you recommend for someone who's never seen one?

Watched The Toll of the Sea (1922) last night. I was struck not only by its color (wow!) but also by Anna May Wong's performance. Her first film at the age of 17. But the musical track was complete garbage. Classical music standards strung together without consideration for the action or emotion. 1/
