Maybe but I’m pretty autistic and I had also eaten a whole lot of ćevapi sa kajmakom

I wish I spoke enough Bosnian to convey how much it meant to me

The most I could manage is “I ate too much ćevapi and I need to sleep now” and somehow I don’t think that is sufficient

There was food here, at least after the war it sounds like, his parents and family just abandoned him basically

But people here all have greenhouses, all have livestock. I’m guessing that’s that trauma. They don’t depend on imports because they know they can’t.

Maybe his parents were just super fucked up to begin with who am I to judge. But the shit he casually talks about, it’s like comforting to my own trauma because my head is like “he doesn’t actually like you! He’s using you for money/stability!” Then I’m like, if he is, he deserves to, fuck it

It was more just from the war. He was born during it and his parents were super fucked up by it and he has gone through literal starvation and living without heat in the winter and shit.

They will prob have all this in specialty shops or big markets in Sarajevo but I’m not in Sarajevo yet and I won’t have a car so I’m learning new recipes and modifying some of my old ones

What I meant to say about chocolate, they don’t have anything that’s more than like 47% cacao. So it’s a matter of reducing the sugar, and the sugar has a different consistency and different properties

No chocolate chips. No marshmallows of fluff

Oh. No shortening. No cloves. No allspice.

Their eggs are a different size, they sell butter in different sizes than I’m used to. I have to experiment and completely rewrite my recipes

They’re not on metric here for baking either

And Thats not my biggest hurdle anyway. Like, they don’t have bittersweet chocolate, they don’t have baking powder, they don’t have coconut milk. Their flour and sugar are different and their ovens work on a completely different principle

🩷🩷 yes. Thank you 😊

I mean my baking skills are pretty good though the game here is completely different. Completely different ingredients, appliances and means of measuring. But i doubt i could make a passable munchmallow out of wheatgrass and oat flour without professional training

Super sweet. Milenko thought it was embarrassing but i mean

I don’t know how to do this with prepacoaged snack cakes. I will have to get very sneaky

Never seen a Lidl. We have Bingo and they have all sorts of things including the best fucking bulk dates that i am absolutely fucking batshit crazy for. But we are only here until 11/30 so a whole turkey would be wasted anyway
November 24, 2025 at 1:12 PM
Speaking to me in rapid Bosnian while i nodded along as best i could and Milenko smirked;

Much cheek kissing.

I don’t know how to tell Milenko how incredibly mild sauce this all is on the Auntie scale

We will be moving all his extra stuff to his godfather’s house and then heading to Pula on the 30th so leftovers won’t be a thing.

I doubt I can get like a turkey breast or anything here. Frozen meat ain’t much of a thing here. It’s all local and fresh.
