My reading is the same as yours - “this effect doesn’t remove Auras” will only apply to Auras already attached, not to ones attempting to become attached.

Especially if you phrase it to the judge as “I want my opponent to be able to follow what I’m doing, but I don’t want to effectively be time-penalized due to my opponent’s lack of experience,” then a time extension becomes very defensible 🙂

Current policy doesn’t explicitly allow for an extension here. However, many judges would be willing to grant one (in my experience) if it’s in service of correct play and education. You can always ask away from the table to make such an ask less awkward 🙂
