Yeah, I love that art too but I think its gonna be pricy, 2 per locked in a 100$ is bound to do that 🥲
Possibly the other bigger chase cards in there keep her lowish though.
Not sold on the foiling yet, as with most of the weird textured ones I'll have to see one in person or at least a video

Upcoming holiday chocobo bundles only I'm pretty sure. There is a new bling snapcaster as well

I think its good to contextualize it in terms of the comp rules, at least a little bit. All text on the card means nothing without that context (What's "dies"? Can enchantments "die"? etc)
Extort means nothing in a void, its reminder text is only telling you what the comp rules say that it means

Yeah true, but weird niche interactions like that are actually cool and fun, so having an overly strict color identity to "protect" from it feels overly puritan.
Even if someone builds completely around exploiting it themselves, its an interesting deckbuilding constraint in itself.

Plus otherwise with remindless cards now we are having to look up oracle text to determine color identity anyway, may as well look up the comp rules at that point.

Its kind of jargon-y that COULD be confusing on reminderless alt art. But if you put it in your deck, hopefully you knew the rules for Extort/Firebending did.
But I'm a Charmed Pendant player 😅

I think it should be "Abilities granted by types or keywords provide the color identity of associated rules entry"
They Keyword is just a shortcut to not have to print it on every card. For all purposes outside color identity it has this text. Same deal with the weird basics clause

Yeah, that's the problem with "Just print it as 2 separate cards" argument. These weird designs help other formats (primarily limited, where keeping card count down matters a TON), which need it more than commander honestly.
So I expect we'll keep seeing more and more.

Yeah, there is an argument to be made for The Deans along the hybrid lines.
They are very distinctly "OR" cards, not a dual color card, but due to the nature of flip we have locked them out of the 99.
As designs get weirder, the little jagged edges of color identity will chafe more and more

I think the current implementation of the color identity rule exist for the benefit of the zone primarily, at a sometimes noticeable cost to the 99 which is at the foundation of the hybrid mana issue too.
Its the kind of Wilhoit's Law for the 99 vs Zone

Partner is fundamentally a bigger break to the format than hybrid mana imo, because "1 card in the zone" is the foundation. Its the name of the format.
Color identity is based off the commander, so cannot exist without that foundation.
And even partner I see as an overall good thing, despite that.

I'll agree intent is to nebulous. We should present that its relied on tool for designers they don't have access too.
I'd rather that they had their full suite of tools, rather deny them the one perfect tool to solve a problem, and force them to make a workaround like partner.

That I think is point for ignoring intent, on both fronts.
Devoid shows clearly the commander color identity rule doesn't care about the intent of cards, and by *being* additive, its actually subtractive from the pool of cards you can include in a deck.

It makes some sense with the second drop, works with both partners. You want to swing out, you want vigi to tap the boy for draw, so this lets you do both safely.
I believe being suboptimal is good, though you could dig deeper than unbreakable formation cause its so overprinted too.

Also it breaks multiple of their precons (Omo is their example in the vid) which REMOVES design tools so I doubt the designers are going to want that either.

Josh and Rachel specifically switch from "or" to "and/or" mid-video to address this, so I'm 100% sure the intent it to let him be jeskai (even if mono-pipped)
I think the issue is the original announcement is a blog-post so it uses vague wording that CAN be read the other way, but I doubt it.

So at least some unquantifiable amount players have ALWAYS been asking "Why can't we" since the inception of the rule.

In what way would you suggest "the players" ever ask?
The best seems to be through the reps on the RC/Commander Format Panel, and from the OG post about Hybrid, it was up for debate with people on both sides. And we see people on the CFP who support the change now.

But as I see it there can be the exact same adjustment of "Hey do you have a deck without hybrid mana?"
But given the nature of the hybrid cards it seems extremely unlikely any amount of hybrid cards would ruin a game experience enough to be brought up, especially compared to the 2/4 differential.

I feel like this is covered better through things like discussion based guidelines like the bracket system, soft guidelines over hard mechanical rules.
Nothing in the rules structure is going to prevent someone from sitting down at a bracket 2 table with 4/cEDH deck etc.

Maybe what I want is a different format, that just Commander+ where everything is a guideline. Or maybe the existing ruleset is preserved forever in "Vintage Commander" and the rest of commander moves on.
But I'll keep playing whatever the people play either way, because its about the people.
