During the security conference „Security and Defense“ organized by Handelsblatt in Berlin, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger:

„We (Germany) already produce more ammunition than the USA.“

I believe that Papparger is referring to artillery ammunition which would be quite an achievement.
