In theory, with the abandonment of the federal charter, the sovereign states now rule as individuals until a new federation can be ratified?

Given the people in charge of the states, I despair for who would be sent to a constitutional convention.

The story now is not an examination of whether their statements were legally protected. The story right now is that we have a wannabe mob boss in the WH, acting like the US gov't is already his playset. Of course his actions violate the law -- goes with the "mob boss" territory.

All these experts, explicating the law. He's not doing it because legality matters, he's doing it because they're defying him and he wants them punished. The legal arguments will matter if/when cases reach a court.

These are people who entered legally and applied for asylum after entry while still in status. But the process is so backlogged that their visa inevitably expired while going through it. In every previously admin, so long as they didn’t commit a crime, they wouldn’t be detained. No longer.
