The current cultural context is a person has been wearing an inflatable frog costume at the Portland protests against ICE, this has gone viral and become a bit of a resistance meme. A photo of the window display at Powell's Books on SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, OR. It features a sign that says "Ribberty and Justice for all" (Ribberty is a pun of the frog noise, 'ribbet' and "liberty"). There are multiple frog fiction and non fiction picture books and one called "the Power of Protest". This is a reference to the viral meme of the person in the frog costume at the anti-ICE protests.

And for me, the first result is bullshit from the Whitehouse, but 2 of the next 3 things refuting them, and another is the other is just a recording of Johnson

TR responded by saying that requiring people to use their legal name on the platform would somehow guarantee that the person showing up for the job is the person from the profile. How? Is it really more common for people to sell and rename their account than it is to use a legitimate nickname?

Our Terms of Service state that Taskers must use their legal name and an up-to-date photo on their profile. This isn't just for background checks and tax purposes. It's a critical part of ensuring trust and safety on our platform. This policy guarantees that the person a client hires is the same person who arrives at their door. Our system relies on this consistent identity to prevent fraud, like a Tasker handing off their account to a secondary user. While we understand the desire to use a nickname, the full legal name serves as a vital point of verification for both us and our clients."

Gig economy app, Taskrabbit, just announced that it will require Taskers to change their profile names to match their legal name.

I sent feedback talking about how confusing and damaging it would be to require Taskers to set their profile to be a name that they don't use and they responded with

We've gotten so many mailers about Obras v. Schilling. I'm already not impressed with Schilling as my mayor. I'm also not impressed by them both arguing that they love cops more than the other guy.

2 bunches of bananas held side by side. The bananas in the bunch on the left are about 2 inches (or about 5 centimeters) longer than the ones on the right. Explanation of joke: it's an old internet meme. According to the website KnowYourMeme, it goes back to 2005. Someone on the internet once included a banana in a photo of something they were selling and included "banana for scale" in the caption. People thought it was funny and started using the concept too. Bananas vary in size, so it's a silly nonsense "measurement", as shown by me using bananas to show how big bananas are.
