Waymo’s have become so ubiquitous in Austin that people regularly honk at them #waymo

lol - I kept posting that the robotaxi system was not actually giving rides, then got waitlisted again

I wish we would see the toaster cubes in Austin, but #zoox still seems to be testing.

Here’s a typical mock drop off by a test car. Strange part - the driver is doing it. FSD is off.
June 15, 2025 at 1:19 PM
Interesting that the mappers don’t run FSD either

Something kind of ironic about riding in a Waymo as we pass a parked Tesla mapper
June 13, 2025 at 9:29 PM
Pretty unremarkable, but why is this significant?

The speed limit on this street is 35 miles an hour. I’ve never seen a Tesla robotaxi test vehicle do this.

A VW autonomous vehicle doing something Tesla still hasn’t pulled off

Driving without a human
June 13, 2025 at 2:36 PM
The mappers are back out. The drivers either don’t know what the sensors do, or they’re assholes.

Or both could be true
June 13, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Another reminder that the Tesla Robo taxi test is really a battle between marketing and physics
June 6, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Robo taxi stuck at a train track.

Luckily, they all have human drivers so it took off as soon as the camera came out
June 5, 2025 at 12:39 PM
Still out there testing

Unfortunately, also still out there being driven by humans

The Seagull gets people off scooters and into EVs
The BYD Seagull is an $8,000 EV, and is China's best-selling car.

And after driving one in China, I understand just why it freaks automakers (and the US government) out, because it proves just how accessible China's EV market is for the average person.

You Should Be Afraid Of The BYD Seagull
China’s best-selling car is a downright dignified driving experience. I don’t know if Western automakers can replicate this experience at this price.

The cost of lidar keeps coming down. When BYD talks about adding it to more cars, it’s not because it’s expensive…

Lidar's Wicked Cost Drop - CleanTechnica
There’s constant talk about improving ADAS (advanced driver assist systems), or autonomous driving tech as it’s often referred to now. BYD is rolling it into every single new model by default. (As Opr...

Still testing

Still human drivers

Still with their hands on the wheel
June 3, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Interesting to see the Robo taxis out testing at night

Still have yet to see one where the human driver is not steering the car

This matches what I am seeing on the ground. Whatever they are doing, it’s not getting ready for a launch.

The holiday weekend is over, so the Tesla test vehicles are back in force. same random driving patterns, same human drivers steering the cars.
