This sort of thing could be tested out at the local or state level for proof-of-concept and to iron out the technical details of implementation - ie securing the voting forum against interference/rigging.

On the other hand, if it doesn't gain the necessary direct votes to pass during the public vote phase, it gets kicked back to Congress for standard legislative procedures/votes. Legislation proposed on the public forum by voters could also be passed into law, albeit with a higher threshold.

Here's how I think it'd work: a senator or congressperson introduces a bill -> it becomes available for public comment and vote -> if something like 60% of all possible eligible voters vote in favor of a bill, it is passed over and above any objections brought by the legislature or president.

Re: food tasting better over time, there is apparently a saying/held belief in my partner's part of Ghana, which is that soups and stews taste better the day after being made because the spiders have had a chance to fart in them.

Thank you Anansi, for being a goofy goober.

Considering the shit the Lliirans get up to, gay marriage is *definitely* accepted in most places, even if WOTC doesn't have the balls to state it outright for their setting like Paizo.

I'm talking custom-building outfits from the ground up - this jacket template + this logo, sized thusly + these colors for these materials. I want to customize vehicles too - accessory parts, hidden weapons, color schemes, the works.

All 3rd parties should be sharpening their knives and organizing, because I don't think they'll find a more fertile field for alternatives to the status quo - on both sides of the political spectrum - than the next year or so.

To borrow your tired, cribbed-from-Obama turn of phrase: Make no mistake, we will remember (and so will Republicans) that when you needed to hold the line, you folded like a cheap lawn chair.

So, when the party that's wanted to gut ACA since day 1 inevitably ignores/works around their completely non-binding 'promise' and guts ACA...what's your play? Going to say it was all a cunning plan to make Republicans unpopular so you can get re-elected to restore the law you helped to kill?

Most of the time, I'm fairly content with the modest level of comfort/prosperity I've achieved - especially in these times - but when I remember that people *this* stupid and manifestly inept probably make more in a year than I have in my entire career to date...that's a hard pill to swallow.
