Just a realist with a camera and a pen who loves trees, animals, rainy days and solitude, and acknowledges the displeasing things going on in the world in the hopes of fixing them.
Thinking about the amazing St Mary McKillop on All Saints Day - because nothing says "I smashed the patriarchy" better than being ex-communicated for telling the priests to stay in their lane and let her teach as she saw fit only to eventually become a saint 😊.

What???? This is all I'm getting at this time of day. Goes up to about 340 in the early hours.

Into the wheelie bin they go. Sure, some are OK given they were my first ever attempts, but I don't like making a mess in the kitchen if it doesn't involve food, and I'd rather stick to what I'm good at and frame more of my photos than keep these 🤷‍♀️. #paintpouring #photography

Still #saltingthevibes on the train. Too bad the covid posters (of which there were many) still there don't even mention masking 🤦‍♀️.

Just one example from the Sanity Music Australian website.

One of the most insane things I've ever heard. They want to register a bunch of computers as medical practitioners? Wtaf?

What a pretty multicoloured tree trunk! @deannicolle1.bsky.social do you think this is still a eucalyptus salubris, or is it something even more exciting?

Ok. I was probably being a bit harsh about my fireworks photos from last night, so here they are, but I really do prefer my other ones from Vivid Sydney in 2015.

My fireworks shots from last night weren't very exciting, because these others from Vivid Sydney 2015 (nearly 10 years ago already? Yikes!) were so much better. Also proving that gear doesn't matter all that much given a better camera and lens combo last night did not equal better shots.

I've made another attempt at this paint pouring malarkey. I think once I use up my remaining 3 smallish canvases I'll give it up. I'd rather finish my 2024, 2016 and 2017 photobooks or write a poem or something.

I love how it turns out completely different every time.

Still playing with paint. This was last night's effort. There's still room for improvement but I'm pretty happy with this one considering my first attempt was only 4 days ago.

Tonight's effort. Still not exactly the look I'm going for, but for only the second night of attempts, I can't complain.

Just messing around with pouring paint. I think I'll stick to photography but it's fun to try something different.

Knowing about the mountain of evidence in the form of peer reviewed research papers about the long term damage covid does, while most people do not is like almost every human interaction being with someone stuck in the blind spot square and not knowing what they don't know 😖.

What a load of garbage. Just another example of the kind of "efficiency" Trump wants him to bring to the table. He wants him to efficiently not care about anyone less fortunate than he is.

My new feathered friend - a black-faced cormorant. Met this morning.

Something fun (for a good cause). This was the Christmas Toy Run at Penola, SA in 2016. Looking forward to going to this event again at a different location soon.

Ohhhh this thing that doesn't work?

I regretted this one I bought a while ago. I think it was only about $40 but it doesn't stay charged for very long and like I said, you can't control the loud beeping.

A brazen cat that dared to walk around on my old car nearly 10 years ago to admire itself in the window. I've named it Narcissus 😄.

Going through the people I follow on Twitter to look them up here and now I'm sadly reminded of who is no longer with us 😢.

Does anyone know what species of eucalyptus this beauty is? Surely not a rainbow (deglupta) eucalyptus, but I'm still amazed by the shiny colours on the bark regardless. |
