In 2024, 39% of Tesla’s net income came from carbon credit sales.

Trump is now dismantling the regulatory system that created that market.

Musk isn’t aligned with Trump by choice. He’s economically bonded.

More in No, Other People:

New poll:

“America would be better off if more people worked in manufacturing.”

• 80% of Americans agree
• 20% disagree

“I would be better off if I worked in a factory.”

• 25% of Americans agree
• 73% disagree
• 2% currently work in a factory

I’m imagining manufacturing coming back to America, and it’s all dark factories and robots employing hardly any humans - isn’t that where manufacturing is going? #tradewars #tariffs

I think the most jaw-dropping rationale for eliminating a congressional funded body was the one given for United States Institute of Peace - to wit “President Trump was eliminated war so we don’t need it anymore.” Oh! 🤦🏽‍♂️ #usip

If the editor @theatlantic.com is - as the #whitehouse put it “a Trump-hater” - then maybe he shouldn’t be invited to a #Trump cabinet level group chat? Just saying 🤷🏽‍♂️

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[10/10]
What’s coming isn’t artificial general intelligence—it’s the moment when we can no longer tell the difference between real and simulated intelligence.
This is when singularity has arrived.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[9/10]
The real danger from AI is not AGI.
In 5-10 years we will simulate human intelligence so convincingly that humans will no longer emotionally be able to distinguish between what is real and what is not.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[8/10]
We will no longer be able to distinguish what is real and what is not.
Engaging with charismatic human simulations, means the boundary between real and mediated realities breaks down.

These simulations will almost certainly be deployed by bad faith actors.
Imagine a digitally recreated historical figure endorsing an extremist agenda.
We have no real emotional defense against this.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI

We will almost certainly be able to simulate historical figures as interactive digital agents—trained on their records.
You’ll likely be able to talk to an Einstein or even deceased relatives.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[5/10]
The capacity to simulate human intelligence is the biggest systemic risk AI poses.
In the digital realm, we will not be able to tell the difference between a real human being and a simulated one.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[4/10]
While LLMs cannot produce AGI, they can simulate human intelligence to the point where we can no longer distinguish between real and artificial humans. This is the real risk.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[3/10]
AGI can never be built from LLMs, regardless of processor arrays deployed.
These systems lack understanding, intentionality, and consciousness.
They generate plausible outputs from patterns—not meaning.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI

Human intelligence is non-deterministic.
It unfolds through context, embodiment, and lived experience.
Current AI systems are deterministic and statistical—fundamentally different in nature.

The Real Systemic Risk of AI
[1/10]
We don’t clearly understand what human intelligence is.
We lack a comprehensive phenomenological account of how it emerges and operates.
Without that, attempts to replicate it remain speculative.

I’m watching what’s happening in the US and wondering how the #republicans don’t get wiped out at the mid-terms? Isn’t political gravity going to sink this rocket? #Trump #Musk actions will shrink the economy - I can’t see the electorate thanking them? #midterms #wipeout Congress back in the fight?

l've been researching the #Holocaust for many years and I'm still surprised by what l've learned. The bottom line is that the Allies ignored the reality of the Holocaust before, during, and after. There should really be no surprise about how Western democracies treat #refugees

Like @coloradotravis.bsky.social I consumed this over the weekend, and I highly encourage everyone to read it.

The coverage is treating the book as an expose of Meta culture and execs and while it is that, I think the more interesting parts are in between and focus on global power dynamics 1/
