I think the short term bet here is copilot (AI in O365) licensing - if MS can add a $30/month/user upcharge and sell it to every company that pays for office licenses, that's an absurd amount of revenue - maybe 1.5-2x what they make from office 365. + selling AI as an azure service

Absolutely is on the table:
MS can't M&A due to governance structure (below). Satya's twt mentioned a new venture similarly to Mojang/GitHub, so presumably Altman has a fairly large deg of leeway. Also the letter to OpenAI board from employees mentions an open offer from MS to all OpenAI employees.
