Billionaires created The Great Barrington Declaration after society started to improve in 2020

Less reliance on capitalism and more social spending

The pyramid scheme economy came to an end, temporarily and then they pushed it into hyper mode

2020 was a glimpse at a better healthier way of living

Let’s go back to the original point i was addressing

Are people in France who make min wage better off now than they were in 1997?

In Canada the majority are worse off if their wage doubled

Because housing and food has gone up by at 3-7 times

Do you think people better off now? If you do, why?

I’m going to be hospitalized within the month if it continues

My throat gets tight, so i take prednisone

But it only works so well when the allergen is constant

I fucking hate prednisone but i will die of i don’t take it

Cannabis is a fucking plague

How much have housing costs risen? More than 47%

At least where I live

In the 90s low end rent was a 3 br for $700

Now low end is $2700 for a 3 br

Min wage was $7, now $16

Food has also more than doubled

People on min wage un France are better off now than in the 90s?

In Canada in the 90s min wage could afford the basics, food, rent, utilities, even leisure money

Now low end rent is almost the whole paycheque of working full time

Min wage increased but costs increased far more

That’s a large part in Canada

Cities with more international students have lower wages

In Vancouver some chem lab jobs, that require education, pay barely above min wage

Used to pay close to double min wage

Except when you consider that all of these wages have dropped relative to cost of living

I spent hours underground digging for treasures, that was fun for a while

And it was exciting seeing new pokemon

But now it’s still always magicarp, bidoof, and shellos

Note:

- MAID is expanding next March

- all disability/poverty support in Canada is legislated poverty rates

- there is a housing crisis

MAID numbers increasing 31% in one year isn't a good thing, it's a canary in the coal mine.

The beginning of the commute is also nice

Like when you stay on the waterfront train until it goes into the train parking lot and then circles around to go the other way
