New AWI measurements in the Arctic show that there has never been as little winter sea ice as on this March since continuous satellite records. The long-term measurements show a loss of sea ice roughly the size of Germany and France combined. 📡🧊

Here's a look at Arctic sea ice extent as of early April 2025 compared to historical data. We're currently tracking below the record low levels. Less ice means the Arctic absorbs more solar energy, accelerating warming.
