Russians are barbarians. Ukrainians will not win this war by becoming barbarians. This principle matters. Plus, from an utilitarian perspective, what has Russia achieved with is war crimes? They have not helped achieve its strategic objectives.

Second Russian submarine destroyed by Ukraine in this war. Bravo SBU!

I wonder how black letter ranks against Times New Roman or Calibri, according to their criteria. Someone thought it was ungerman a few decades ago.

The documents in German and Russian: The "Third Reich" and the Soviet Union proclaim to "secure peace in Europe" after the "collapse of the Polish state"

They both acuse France and GB of trying to "prolong the war". Which means modern tankies sound like Nazis

According to Trump, somehow Kimmel's show is watched by no one *and* gives the Democrats undue influence. Both claims cannot be true at the same time.

I won't argue about the civil war or the years before. But consider the 1970's: in a few years, both transition from dictatorship to democracy without bloodshed. In Spain, elements of the francoist regime attempt a coup, which fails with the help of the king.

I had other later examples in mind, like Sweden, Portugal or Spain. Though one could argue that they benefitted from earlier, messier experiences.

The revolution was followed by a century of instability and authoritarian regimes (Napoléon, restauration) before democracy solidified. Was violence the only way? Other European countries transitioned to democracy with much less pain.

That's not the point. Only the Ukrainians are dying. And they have every right to defend themselves. And they deserve our aid, not only for their sake but because Russia threatens all of Europe.
