This was a fun little jump scare. It was the end of the night, and I realized I hadn't seen Kilo in a while. I got up to find him for Final Out of the Night, and as I started walking towards the kids' rooms, I saw him snoozing outside, facing us just outside the window.

You cannot see that this tree was more than 60 feet tall, so you're just going to have to take my word for it... Glad it decided to fall away from the house. (This picture was taken like 10 feet from the house.) I DON'T UNDERSTAND THESE PEOPLE AT ALL. WHAT ARE THEY DOING HANGING OUT THAT CLOSE TO THE FALLEN POWER LINES? DON'T FUCKING TOUCH DOWNED POWER LINES. Another attempt to capture the tree service worker preparing to take this trunk down a bit safer that the tree was going to... Another close call for a neighbor.(A large tree fell parallel to my neighbor's house. Had it fallen toward the house instead, it would have done major structural damage.)

Pictures from the forest after the storm, a thread:
A root cluster that's approximately 15 feet tall, still attached to the bottom of the trunk of a huge fallen Douglas Fir. This tree fell across this neighbor's driveway, missing their house by a deeply uncomfortably small distance. Another neighbor's tree that had begun to fall toward their home when it caught on the next tree over. Luckily they were able to get a tree service out fast enough to take it down before it finished toppling over. If you look closely, you can see an array of stabilizing ropes and a person high up, trimming branches in preparation to take it down safely. Three trees landed on our property. In this drone shot you can see where one fell and knocked a taller one toward the house. Missed it by something like 30 ft. The third one was one of the closest trees to the house, but it fell away from the house... They cleaned it up before I got the drone up, so we'll have to settle for pictures from my phone. You can see how the fallen tree struck another and scraped it all the way down...

We went to the construction site today, and all the photos I ended up with are supremely boring. It feels awesome to see drywall getting put up. It changes the whole feel and sound of a space... But it's hard to take a picture of this without it feeling like the most primitive greybox level layout.
An incredibly boring picture of like 1.5-closets'-worth of drywall in two closets. Just nothing of visual interest at all. Check it out! It's the space that will get to be a pantry some day. Today? It's suuuuuper boring! My wife's office is coming along well! Soon they'll finish making it look like a boxy, untextured space... And here you can see the door to the laundry room, surrounded by drywall... I'm super excited about this! My bedroom suite is just through the door to the right of that! I've been waiting for this for years! Too bad I haven't found a single way to take an interesting picture of any of this...
