Yes - they see SciFi as a world promised to them where they’re “better” than everyone else, because they made the cool science gadgets. People who want to be better than others (stratification of power) are easily hoodwinked into neo-reactionary ideology

If the only reason you're good to other humans is you wanna get into heaven, or you're scared of hell, you're not a good person. An ethical person is ethical regardless of sky daddy telling them so. How much of humanity is self-serving and rotten to the core, that this is necessary?

I think this is why so many people are enamored by AI, that they believe it has a "spark of sentience". Because it lies, just like them. It sounds like them. To the neurotypical, truth and facts and precision are unnecessary in the face of self-serving speech. And they'll happily believe it, too!

this is no longer true. AI lies. It makes things up out of whole cloth. It bullshits, and presents it as fact. The AI industry has dubbed these "hallucinations" - but I don't think that term is accurate in describing what is happening.
No, this propensity for lying is exactly what neurotypicals do.
