Enjoyed working on a three colour portrait. Recent art practice has definitely been smoothing out my process a bit which is nice.

Been busy, but trying to get back into doing digital art ever. Had some fun w/ a practice portrait of Haze from Deadlock.

Put some more work into the Godot based music visualizer, fixed some bugs and got basic MP3 import working. It's now available on itch. Go crawl over some music, ride the waves.

Made a 3D audio visualizer in Godot, inspired by a recent-ish @mikerugnetta.com post. Does some FFT math to get 32 bands of the master bus, which gets passed to the next row and slowed down. Tricky to get it working the way I wanted, but a good exercise. Proper audio import would be fun.

In lieu of a hot take, prime jape, or idle musing, here's a photo of one of my mushroom experiments.

Thinkin' 'bout The Museum of All Things. There's something very striking to me about a game which many people would not consider a game (it's a game) so utterly and succinctly succeeding at the application of aesthetics to convey an ideology, vs more game-y games that talk a lot but say nothing.

The audiobook I worked on came out! Second Pocket First by Gregory Grosvenor, a comedic novel about a thief that loves the accoutrement of thievery, but isn't great at most elements of actually being a thief.

Misc audiobook thing: I wanted to improve my female voicework, at least a little, searched "better female voice" or something like that & instantly found a ton of trans voice coaching that was better for teaching vocal control than a university level (intro) singing course. Internet good sometimes.

Landed my first paid narration/production job for an audiobook! I don't know if it's kosher to say the title/author at this point in the process & don't want to jinx it, but it's a horror novella. Exciting to get some paid creative work for the first time in years.

One of the upsides(?) to enshitification is open source stuff never looked so good. In a world where companies are forgoing making a good product in favour of information brokering and cramming useless AI bloat everywhere, Linux & etc not being burdened by that stuff becomes a real selling point.

Oh, I did make a tutorial for the physics trees from my post the other day. Worth noting, certain situations can cause hitches and performance drops with the default physics engine, they've been performant with Jolt though. #IndieDev #GameDev #Godot #GodotEngine

The godot progress from last week. Learned how to do deformable/physics foliage, better audio spatialization, grabbing things, lethal water, misc terrain stuff. I think I'd like to replace the lofi ball w/ a fairy-thing playing an instrument. Catch a couple to get a song going. #gamedev #godot

Mini Godot dev update: tinkered around with a bunch of environment design stuff. I ended up just liking a Blender>Godot workflow, the terrain plugins were overkill for what I wanted. Takes a bit of trial and error but lets you get nice organic low poly shapes fairly easily.

Tinkered with Godot a bunch today, learning some 3D basics & debugging my dialogue system. Amateurish obviously, but encouraging. Couple mechanics and assets away from being at least a basic game. #gamedev #godot

Copying over my thread of small book reviews from ~the other site~ since it was one of the main things I liked doing on it, it's more fun than self promotion hustle. Mostly audiobooks via Libby, multiple works from the same author get a combined review if I manage to tackle them all in one go.
