See that makes sense to me! Mine didn’t have a lock on her door, but we did have an extremely firm “do not enter without permission” policy, which is probably why she never asked for one.

Yep. My FIL and BIL both had GMC assembly-line jobs. (BIL is 20 years older than my spouse, early Boomer vs early GenX.) They didn’t enjoy them, but they were/are both more financially stable than we are!

This is a major reason why I, a dual citizen, never considered US jobs as a young person: my mid-1990s cancer diagnosis, which in Canada merely prevents me from getting cheap insurance to pay the mortgage if I die, would've stopped me getting ANY health insurance coverage in the US. Had I lived >
