Love Sydney, hopeless optimist! I'm curious about everything... please don't mistake my questions for a particular point of view. Sydney based financial planner, happy family guy.
I haven't been on this site in months.....very happy to see you're still bashing these jokes out!

I think the ABC has devoted a few hours to this, and yes they promoted it heavily. In a few weeks time they will have moved on. Much as they did after the Gillard/Rudd loss to Abbott. You mightn't like it but some are interested in the dramatic shifts in Aus Politics. Who else will cover it?

Couldn't agree more with your thoughts on health services, child care too, should be basic govt supplied services. Gotta go...train is stopping, go well.

Yes you are right Im afraid... what do you think they should do? It's a super important question

I disagree a bit.... NDIS is labors invention, but it is becoming unsustainable on the current tradgectory. I was always a big fan of limiting negative gearing...to use towards NDIS, that would help! Agree tax cuts for higher earners unnecessary, lower earners need the break.

I agree that Labor needs to do more.. real reform... tax reform, negative gearing, increasing centreline benefits where needed. Greens are super important and we need them. Sometimes I think they get a little carried away, which can happen when you can make promises that you never need to deliver.

True.... he is so unpredictable hard to know what is next!
May 8, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Sorry! My last post wasn't directed at you, although we could all do with a little luck! Although I think you'll find all parties bash each other pretty hard, and can work together when there is political advantage.
May 8, 2025 at 12:54 AM
If you think the greens went well this election I am very happy for you!
May 8, 2025 at 12:43 AM
Agreed. It's the issue Labor gets wedged on...sadly I think hard-line defence is a populist position...so I'm not hopeful there. Trump might even help breakup AUKUS himself
May 8, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Um, I just said that was the worst part of politics... not sure if you are hearing what other people are saying.... best of luck though!

They all play political games, greens are as bad as anyone on that count. I think that's the worst part of politics at the moment - but it probably reflects a good chunk of the electorial expectations sadly. Not many people bother with details...

Yep, you could call it intransigence by Labor, and I think you have a point. Being in government is tricky, you need to get stuff passed. Disagree with a lot of what our politicians come up with, from all parties. I just think the Greens took it too far on this occasion and are paying the price.

Where did I hear obstructionist?? Funnily enough all those you mentioned, plus the Guardian, ABC, Crikey, my mate down the street, some random homeless bloke and my dog. What are you supposed to call it when legislation for housing is blocked for 18 months???
May 8, 2025 at 12:04 AM
So, because you have the bingo card, the greens can never be called obstructionist?? Isn't this kinda the issue across politics? if you disagree with us you must be wrong cause I have a meme that echos my feelings?
May 7, 2025 at 11:53 PM
I think that is part of the narrative, but it seems to me most serious people are thinking that the greens moved too far away from their initial tenets, and into areas that don't affect the lives of day to day Australians - and had also gotten a little too obstructionist.

Agree, but what is the alternative? If someone wants me to use the term, I would, i think thats polite....but yes it is a little confusing.

Thanks Justin well explained... although not really a feel good article!

Have a read of this.... from Hamas released figures, so must be legit.
Hamas suspected of manipulating Gaza death toll, research shows
Some 3,400 names were removed from the most recent death reports from the Strip, raising concerns of inflated figures by Hamas.
