Obviously not the worst thing going on right now, but I am feeling sad about my F32 that was supposed to go to study section today. On the other hand, I got the mythical bike car this morning, for the first time in my >year of daily train commuting. Lifted my spirits a bit. It's really nice.

Just found this guy on my swamp milkweed! 🥳
A monarch butterfly caterpillar on the stem of a swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata), whose pink blooms can be seen in the top corner. The milkweed is in front of a sea of vegetation, with a few yellow blooms amongst all the leaves.

It was deceptively hot this morning, but nevertheless always happy to get on some outside rock

Thanks for sharing this! I'm in Baltimore and my husband works at an urban tree planting nonprofit focused on this, and I was stunned when I learned how closely our present-day tree canopy coverage maps onto the 1930s redlining categories. Glad to see PBS shining some light on urban trees!

The lovely hydrangea that has been living here much longer than I have was completely taking over my very small rowhome front garden, so I regrettably had to trim it. But it is hard to feel too bad when your home is now filled with these

Happy bike to work week! I've been cycling as my primary form of transportation (well, + train to work) for a few years now and I'm continuously reminded how much more connected I feel to my community and, honestly, to just being a human. Feels more important now than ever

A bit late, but I finally got to see my grandparents and they saved me a copy of my hometown's newspaper in which the piece I wrote--inspired by @sciencehomecoming.bsky.social --was featured! So surreal to see my name there!
