Sword & Board Games is an independent tabletop games studio founded by four tabletop gamers looking to make the kinds of games we would be diehard fans of ourselves if we hadn't made them.

The Titanic size trait was also reworked, making non-Titanic miniatures a harder time fighting Titanic miniatures, promoting a playstyle of having your Titanic minis duke it out in cinematic duels between giants.

A roster of weapons exclusive to Titanic miniatures was added to the game, along with the GUARDIAN ANGEL Monstrous Species Trait. The Shield Combo trait was also added to the Halberd, Billhook, Spear and Lance. As well, several spells were reworked to deal guaranteed hits, instead of damage.

For transparency, none of our titles got deindexed or delisted from Itchio as far as I can tell. However, as a predominantly queer-operated and queer-owned game studio we're collectively quite shaken in our trust in Itch as a platform and are currently investigating pathways forward.

Until things get bad to a point where we cannot reasonably host our games on the platform, we're probably going to keep posting our games to Itchio for the time being, because ultimately studios of our size can't really afford to not sell our games on as many platforms as possible.

And finally, Itchio is extremely flexible regarding what files you're allowed to include in a purchase. So if we were to include say, I don't know, purely hypothetically, STL files in a future release, we'd have to do that through Itchio. So please, check out our Itchio page at swordnboard.itch.io.

Furthermore, all future releases from the studio will arrive on our Itch page earlier than on other platforms like DriveThruRPG. You also may be able to find our games in bundles and charity fundraisers hosted on the website in the future.

We've included a Meet The Team section that has brief biographical descriptions of each member of Sword & Board Games and what we do for the studio. If you've ever wanted to know more about the creators behind the games currently this is the best way to do that.

700 years after the Posthuman Revolt, the Ascendant Legions reave and pillage along the periphery of the Unifier-in-Absentia's domain, conquering worlds to serve as footholds for increasingly daring raids deeper into Tetrarchy territory or as temples to venerate powers far older than humanity.

With no apparent hope of forging their own empire, the Ascendant Legions scattered across the galaxy in every direction. Many found themselves in the domains of ancient and terrible beings who slumber in the void between stars. Awed by their might, the Ascendants made pacts with new sovereign lords.

However, the military junta established on Mars in the wake of the Unifier's final defeat was short lived as the remnant fleet of the Army of Unification set Mars to siege quickly after, all the while this posthuman occupation took almost no time to devolve into fatal infighting.

This war left the Tetrarchy fractured and without the Unifier, who according to modern religious doctrine within the Tetrarchy ascended to godhood in the midst of the war's climactic battle on Mars. The rebel Haagenti, having rechristened themselves the Ascendant Legions, technically won.
May 6, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Regardless of intent, the commanders of several Haagenti legions became convinced that the Unifier ultimately intended to dispose of them once Unification was complete. In protest, the Haagenti war fleets turned around and set course for Mars. And thus the Posthuman Revolt began.

The Unifier's reasons for doing this are often debated, some pointing to the Haagenti's rumored infertility, and thus inability to produce heirs, while others argue that the Unifier thought the strength of the Haagenti were better deployed on the front lines of unification. Perhaps it was both.
