We have to keep doing this. We have to do this with books and films and games and any meaningful media. Recognize that it's skillfully crafted, recognize the meaning it has to you, and do the terrible math of weighing it against who created it and what they have done.

You are answerable to no one but your own conscience, ultimately. Make the choice about what matters more to you, just like always.

Who decides right from wrong? You do. Every time you make a choice. We all do. Individually, independently, based on uncountable factors. That's just part of living in a society. It's not an existential crisis: it's part and parcel of having a conscious mind.

Collectively, I think we need to be better at saying, "Yeah, this hasn't aged well and I can't enjoy it like I used to, so I'm choosing to set it aside." It's not a purity test, it's just liking what you like instead of pinning a badge on yourself as a "fan".
