Remember the Tumblr porn purge? They lost a HUGE portion of their userbase, and from what I’ve heard, it’s still a pretty sad wasteland of what it used to be. The same will happen to Bluesky, if not, faster, cause it’s still a “new” social media outlet.

The whole overbearing set of rules for NSFW content that they’re trying to implement is not, and will not go over well for them. Queers, furries, sex workers, and freaky NSFW artists are who gave this platform footing when it was small.

Trying to get rid of them will only be a disaster for Bsky.

People are gonna avoid tagging their work to not get sniped, and that means someone who doesn’t want to see NSFW or even minors will be subjected to NSFW. This doesn’t help anyone. It’s as innovative as Elon letting people you block still see your page on Twitter.

In all seriousness, what the hell is the point of having a content labeling system if you’re just gonna pull the rug?

I don’t think Bsky realizes how bad this is actually gonna be, because it’ll be the same cycle as any other site that brings a banhammer down on NSFW.

If you have a smartwatch with the green light, thank Spottacus. It’s incalculable how many lives his work has saved- so many people who otherwise wouldn’t have gotten help without alerts from his system. What a legacy.
