Today Ukraine remembers Holodomor. The famine caused by Stalin killed millions of Ukrainians. The photo is from a conference in Vienna that tried to wake up the world and to organize help. There are two relatives of mine on the photo: my great grandfather Aithal Witoszynskyj & Rev. Myron Hornykewycz

Just one example how Russian cultural appropriation and imperialism works. I have a CD with Christmas songs at home which was recorded before the Soviet Union collapsed. The CD is called Christmas in Russia. All but one song are Ukrainian song by Ukrainian choirs. Even Silent Night is in Ukrainian.
