Like you've noted with others, it lacks a true sandbox element, but the integration of the decisions at the end of each snippet brushes shoulders with the idea. It's less effective because there's usually an explicit good or bad outcome, but there is player agency generating new world save states.

I think specifically Zero Time Dilemma out of the Zero Escape games walks this path, at least in the first 75% of it. A key component of ZTD's progression are these non-contiguous "memory fragments" from different points of view.

Ah, shame, I felt the exact opposite. The focus on positioning really hooked me and I loved lining people up to just skewer the entire crowd with sigurd. Honestly made me invested more than weapon triangle ever did

What kept you off engage? The character designs definitely pushed me away but the new mechanics more than made up for it

Really love the attention to detail in building the heads. They mimick the way the actual kits did eyes by putting a translucent slice where the eye pieces would've slid in. And they're even consistent with the eye color on the face plate! Absolutely lovely.
