I saw a trump truck bumper sticker that said "make a liberal cry - work hard and be happy"... what do we think we're mad at? Work hard, be happy, and let me do the same. Over here.

A 16-year-old today: "what even is cursive? Is it another language?" 😓 #ifidontlaughillcry

Tonight, a fwllow enby clocked me immediately and was shocked that others don't know I'm nonbinary just by looking at me. I know there is no "enby look" and that we don't owe anyone androgyny, but I still feel validated.💛💜🤍🖤

I need my students to know that I don't take pleasure in marking them off 5 points for not reading the directions/doing the work AND I celebrate when they get everything right.

Was ready to protest today but my stupid self left my stupid car light on and my stupid car wouldn't start and my nice neighbor jumped it but it didn't work so I just took the hint and stayed home. It's so good to see all the pictures, keep em coming.

The world is healing. I'm at a high school dance and have seen only 3 sets of heels in 20 minutes.

Got a kickass parent review today:
"Thank you! For the first time ever our daughter said she liked math (!!) because 1) people at her table group asked her for help & she was actually able to help them &

Just as a high school math/college psych recap:
𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
Just because two things are correlated, like how societies who administer fewer vaccines are reportedly less likely to have autism populations, does not mean that one causes the other.

My new school:
✅️ Handed me a pride-flavored school spirit shirt
✅️ Corrected pronouns immediately
✅️ Knew that "Mistrum" is "Mm."
✅️ Has 3 hours of personal prep time for each of the 3 PD days
... aside from not being able to move into my new room yet, this feels exactly right.

In other news, I fed these #goats twice in one day. Enjoy :)

Oh, and if my prescription doesn't come in by the end of August I'll have to pay out of pocket. Yes, I put it in two weeks ago. No, I have not heard from them.

It turns out my master plan of applying for equity positions until August and then turning back to math teaching positions had a fatal flaw: there are no math jobs within 30 miles of me.

THEY/THEM
By David Gate, poet.

If God created night & day
& dusk
& the tangerine rose pink sunset
& the deep amethyst twighlight
& the infant bright of morning

then to perceive the world in binary
is to forgo knowledge of the divine.

An intersex facilitator and advocate said "I'm not more valid [than trans people], I'm just more certain", and I keep thinking about it. In searching for my own gender, I wished for a reason. I didn't have the feeling since 5 like others, I just had a very strong sense of self developing at 30.

I need to interview a teacher and a non-teacher for a paper this week on k-12 tenure... Who wants to jump on a zoom call or meet up for coffee?

Truly just want someone to pay me enough so my cats can live in my house while I educate people on queer identity and allyship. Is that so much to ask?

Looking forward to actually having a job in September... no, it hasn't happened yet, but I'm looking forward to it. 🤞
Applied to Khan Academy, Instructure, and SVC, I'm hoping these part time jobs will combine into one perfect job 🤷

My phlebotomist told me my name is one of her favorites: a plant and a rock. She's seen a lot of names over two decades in the healthcare industry, so it means even mote that she likes mine the most.
Oh. And I had to do a blood draw to start T 😏

Spent 4 hours raising money for the Camp with Pride Scholarship foundation and was blown away by a $500 donation. Truly thought he was joking, but that will go a long way towards sending a queer kid to a safe and affirming summer camp near them. Amazing.
