my favourite bird at my city’s zoo (daily walk in the park destination), the blue pit pit, is the sapphire of the birds. Gorilla kid Thandie’s on her third cast (double leg break operated on with success 2 weeks ago; rough play), and I’d bet you didn’t notice the 3rd pic are 2 Pygmy marmosets.
Blue pit pit: canary like bird in mainly cyan blue plumage, with Prussian blue accents around eyes, back, tail end and wings. Gorilla Thandie of 5 climbing in one of their rooms on wooden structures, with her right leg in a white cast, lifted in the air to keep it from touching the ground. Almost two weeks ago (Monday morning), they found her with a broken leg. A double break. This was likely because of rough play with 4 year old half sister Azari. The next day she was operated on with success. This is her third cast. They put cayenne pepper on it initially to keep her from ripping it. She’s used to it now. And still enticing her half sister to roughhouse. Pygmy marmoset climbing a tree stump. Same pigmy marmoset, but her youngest kid (mid April) who clung to her back in previous pic detaches itself, revealing there were 2 marmosets all along

#art yesterday morning in #middelheim museum (open air art park, free entrance, in top 5 of European open air museums) we had a 10 minute model sketching (each other) session in Braem pavilion, for Middelheim’s 75 years birthday of existence.

A real life Bluesky butterfly in the park I have my regular walk. It’s really rare to be able to get a pic of it with wings open while resting or eating.

Peak bodies settled in for the night!
Two tabby cat brothers sleeping on the duvet of bed, basically taking all space. They each are curled in deep relaxed sleep. One is a black-grey marble tabby with white feet and pink beanies, partially sleeping against a yoga pillow with his back. The other is a spotted tabby - black and sandy brown.

That’s why her prior effort to put them on a brazier does nothing, why others do not feel the eggs having heat as Dany does. And why Aegon v’s try went wrong - highly pregnant Rhaella was taken to safety to birth Rhaegar away from the burning Summerhal.
A palace is engulfed in flames. A lake or river in front of it reflects the tragic burning. At the rim of the water, beneath tree canopy and amidst the roots lies a pregnant woman with white blonde hair (Rhaella Targaryen) labouring to birth her child. A septon helps her and holds newborn baby Rhaegar. 3 guards in black-red Targaryen attire stand alongside the water. 1 looks back at the fire. Another holds up Aerys, now king because of the inferno.

These rounded ends are “octopus like appendices”. So similar ending limb. Also both muscular front limbs in that interpretation. If I look at those as “arms” then it’s almost as if a tiny human is trying to come out of the “front”

My babies in 2019 at 8 weeks, a few weeks before adopting them. Lockdown and teaching zoom was hilarious with 2 kittens.

I had a student for my “math research” who picked “Fibonacci” for a historical math essay and poster. They used a picture that was used in a Nasdaq article of 2016 with the Fibonacci spiral for Trump’s hair. The poster is up in my classroom. 😂

The drinking bottles are 1 liter and in use for several years. Clean them with tablets and brush by hand.

Setting or landscape is underwater shot of a seahorse aquarium with fushia pink coral and underwater plants covering all of the rocks. It renders a strange view because of the color, but also because the scene is mirrored /reflected on the water surface, which is above “us”. This also skews the partial revealed sky and water on right upper corner. On the foreground are purple blue/violet rounded rocks on which a fantasy figure is seated in profile (on the bottom left). She wears a tiger print catsuit, but has a mermaid tale and fairy wings. Her hair are tufts of yellow, orange and black that are not that different from the fluffy plant life she’s looking at. She’s staring (face turned away from us) at a copula of dome of a monumental building. It is the dome of the Central Station of Antwerp, with gilded elements. A “golden” statue of an eagle lands on its high point. Below the copula at the bottom of the landscape, just behind the purple front rocks lies a statue of an owl, on its side, like a treasure of a wreckage that dropped to the bottom of the ocean floor. Above the figure and left of the dome, there is a hedgehog. This is a sea hedgehog- a mix of hedgehog with sea urchin, and it clings to the invisible glass window separating viewer from landscape. The sea bottom also includes a giant scallop, two floating underwater buoys and a sea-unicorn (seahorse with horn).

Almost (!!) done. I improved the idea of volume in the right section of the coralled rock formation, touched up the sea-hedgehog, gave the seahorsey a unicorn horn, the copula, and the owl statue. About an hour work left to do next week.

A city trip to Rome a month ago and switching semester (grading + startup courses) got in the way of completing the inner landscape “magical wunderwater world”. I finished the triad with the soccer ball instead (much smaller). But last 4 days I added my nymph-fairy-catwoman & “sea-hedgehog” #art

As I did for the hedgehog I adapted this to an underwater world, aka the emotional world that is playful, creative and therefore magical to me.

#art #painting #acrylic At the academy one of the projects was painting the same item in different ways. My series was finished today and called “Play Ball”: three acrylic paintings that feature a soccer ball. See alt text for measurements, description and background info
Play Ball 2: acrylic 28x20 cm. The idea came about through this painting. During a walk in a park I noticed a soccer ball left in the reed of the park’s pond, low beneath a bridge. I took a picture of it and collaged a reflection into the image: a girl watching her lost soccer ball from that bridge. Play Ball 1: acrylic paint and acrylic pen, 20 x 30 cm The background is a wall with a crack, and the wall features a “graffiti” drawing in black, grey white of a black boy smiling as he races after a soccer ball. Beneath the boy is written “Ceci n’est pas un Banksy” Extra: the prestudy collage of the girl’s reflection staring at the lost soccer ball reminded me (and others) of Banksy, so this inspired the idea for a painting of a Banksy like graffiti, to which the same double entendre trick can be used that Margritte (countryman) once did with the pipe. So, this image refers to two iconic artists and work, “culture” in general. Play Ball 3: acrylic 20 x30 A sea lion swims amid kelp with a recycled flattened soccer ball in his mouth. In other words,the soccer ball is the sole human/culture element left and discovered in wild nature by a sea lion who in his own turn incorporates it into play.
