What a phenomenal weekend spent with my community at the #Connect1d adult retreat. Loved meeting Pam and her 60+ years of living and thriving with #T1D.

Every time I see my Texan sun dog rolling in the grass in the sunshine here in the PNW, I wonder if she feels like the girl in Ray Bradbury’s All Summer in a Day. Like she dreams of sun and feels like it’s been 7 (dog) years since she saw it. 🌞

My kids took this photo because Callie’s resemblance to Smudge the meme cat was too real in front of the bowl of roasted veggies.

Only 3 days after she cost me $450 on plumbing, we are now at the emergency vet over a nommed corn cob that will cost more than $450. #Malinois

Here’s another I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Corporate folk love “verbiage” when they could use “copy,” “text,” or “words.”

If you work in a corporate environment, you probably hear people say “utilize” all day when they could just say “use.” I like to think of utilizing as finding new utility. Both are generally okay in speech, but there is a subtle difference; you don’t have to use the fancy one all the time.

On whether to invoke Cher and other such important things about seasonal time changes…

This is important.

Jeff, I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to my Prime Membership. I’ve got two pillars, too. 🖕🏻🖕🏻

Maybe I moved to Narnia. View from my bedroom this last Thursday morning before anything could disturb the fresh powder.

My #Discworld shelves are coming along nicely. Missing only 6. Still lots of book boxes to unpack since the move, but these shelves were my priority. “If you have enough book space, I don’t want to talk to you.” - Terry Pratchett

Belgian Malinois snoring while I sit here unimpressively uploading content to a doc control system. #dogtax #snoozles

I was given a drawing complete with instructions and hex codes for the design of this cake. I was not able to color match to spec, but I think I passed. She ate a slice and bounded joyfully back to the basement.

Celebrated our daughter’s 15th birthday today by a trip to @seattleaquarium.bsky.social. Milk 🥛 and a house salad 🥗 were all she could eat with celiac in their cafe (which was disappointing), but this was all she asked for for her birthday. 🐙 🦈 🐠

This girl is old and mean and cranky and diabetic and her claws will tear you up. We have a lot in common.

Listen to people with lived experience and who are part of the communities we discuss. Listen, also, to people who pay attention to history.

Everyone when I said we were moving to Washington: “but the sun never shines!”

Me: y’all mothersunners forgot about climate change. A lot more sunny, warm days even at the 47th parallel (and yeah, I know, “47” is a little too on the nose)

Looks like my wicked cat dropped an armchair on her sister. “And your little dog, too!” *cackling*

My family is settling into our new home just fine.

Day 1 in my new home. The view.

Day 5. We’ve arrived in Washington. People keep asking why we moved. Is it for work? No. Is it for family? No. It’s because I’ve been dreaming of scenes like this since my first visit to the PNW.

Stopping in Salt Lake City. On our way to spend the night in Boise.

We’ve discovered our black lab who loves rolling in the hot Texas sunshine feels about snow exactly how we thought she would. 0 ⭐️. Would not recommend.
