I just checked out Damaris Phillips’s vegetarian cookbook from @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social. It looks great but I can also guarantee you she’s not making beet and feta burgers while wearing this white blouse!

I am back to walking Muffin before the sun comes up. I do love me a rosy-fingered dawn, though.

4 or 5 National Guardsman (they were all men) at the Navy Yard Metro at 6:00 pm as Washington Spirit fans headed home after the match. I asked why they carried weapons against a civilian population and they said it was to protect themselves.

I’ve seen 3 wheat pasted Sandwich Guy posters in my neighborhood without looking too hard. This one I can see out my work window.

Two days ago in my neighborhood, ICE agents took a selfie in front of an anti-ICE banner before ripping it down and leaving a dildo. My neighbors responded by making more signs and chalking the plaza.

This is a beautiful place.

Florida Ave NW and Chuck Brown Way NW.

Today, I got to witness DC joy: a Black man playing Go-Go music on a speaker and three people dancing along. I smiled so big as I passed by.

Returning home on the bus, I caught this mural from the bus window.

This is a beautiful city now under martial law.

Our safety nets are crashing to the ground. The world is terrible.

And I love this picture of myself at the City Teaching Alliance induction, embarking on my new adventure to be certified in elementary and special ed.

Taking notes for my first special education assignment with my Smash the Patriarchy pen.

Gerald Ford thought the Education for All Handicapped Students Act of 1975 was too expensive and too bureaucratic.

So smash that f’ing patriarchy.

Taking a long-planned and much needed break before becoming a fired non-federal worker. (Weird being laid of for more-normal budgetary reasons at this particular historic moment.)

Visiting Assateague Island in Virginia.
