So first off, I have been really enjoying this beer lately…That said, am I getting called out? I’ve been bitching the past two winters that there just aren’t enough stouts/porters on the shelf. Does wanting a basic stout now make me the old guy yelling at kids to get off his lawn? #Beer #Stout

Well I’m packed and ready for my first camping trip of the new year. A basic overnight an hour+ south of here at Dinosaur Valley State Park. A shortish 1 mile hike to a primitive camp site.

Tamales have been steamed. Taste tested one, and they are delicious as usual. My masa might be a bit under seasoned, but still good. I have two pounds of fresh masa left. Might whip up a batch of green chile chicken tamales. #Cooking #Christmas

My first bake in my restored Wagner Ware Krusty Korn Kob pan…Still hung up on the spelling… It was a success!!! Little pre heat, brushed with oil, and they slid right out. I figured a 100 year old heirloom deserved an heirloom cornbread - Used some tasty heirloom Bloody Butcher cornmeal. #Cooking

Whelp…After a good amount of elbow grease, the crusty rusty Wagner Ware pans cleaned up nicely. Four layers of seasoning. Will have to give em a test run soon with cornbread. Not really sure what reason they had to buy the little pan. But it was clearly well used. Little before and after action -

Well spent half the day burning off yesterday’s calories helping the family cleaning out a couple of storage units. Couple of finds - Found my original NES! Just need to track down a power cord. Bigger find - Old cast iron I assume was my great grandmother’s. Needs some tlc. Stay tuned for updates.

Tonight’s first drink, Altstadt Brewery’s Schwarz. Altstadt does a pretty good job at German style brews. This is no exception. One of the better schwarzbiers I have had in a while. #Beer
