You may know me as "Bronze Age Star Wars" on Twitter. Now join me on Bluesky for some nostalgic fun as I play through the Lone Wolf gamebook series and the World of Lone Wolf spinoff!
I was working at a WaldenBooks at the time and we got a ton of promotional merch (and got an employee discount on everything else). I still have one of these posters rolled up and unopened in the original plastic wrapping.

I remember watching the Julia Roberts/Clive Owen spy rom-com "Duplicity" with my mom and at one point my mom turned to me with an exasperated expression and said, "Is this one of those movies where you have to pay attention through the whole thing???"

Awesome, thank you! I'm just looking at visuals of the book I found online.

One of my all-time favorite comedy sketches.

I went on the Talk pages on the relevant Wookieepedia articles for each character and their respective species and asked if there were any sources for them.

I was buying some of those exact titles off the rack in 1988!

I was already in my 20s when KotOR came out and it floored me the first time round. For a long time I'd replay it every couple years. Kept finding new things to do or new ways to do things that made it worthwhile.

I thought about that the other day when you posted the cover to the Armor Wars/Captain America No More crossover issue. The creators on both titles had much more respect for their characters' integrity back then.

The best alterations just spiffed up the original model or matte painting without really changing much.

There were some interesting bits of continuity in this series as well. The Rebel pilot who gave Vader Luke's name was retconned to be a character from the Rebel Assault video game. The scarred and disabled bounty hunter Mala Mala later appeared in the Chewbacca limited series.

Gibbons' Star Wars visuals had a lot in common with Russ Manning's newspaper strips. Very clean '50s sci-fi look.

This movie was the better of Tim Burton's Batman movies, but the 1989 original had the better adaptation.

Keith's version of Crumb looks more like a Jim Henson creature than a Star Wars alien.

He *kinda* joins the X-Men/kinda doesn't? IIRC, he disappears without explanation for a while, then shows up again without explanation, and everybody just treats him like an official X-Man, thanks to continuity issues b/w the annual, the main series, and the ongoing crossovers.
