One of the things I like about being a publisher is the relationships I've forged with other publishers. We share information, offer advice, and commiserate. They're a support network that share passion. They understand. They're also friends. So here's to Steve, Ray, Ros, Adam, Maria, and Jonas!

Watching the @nunkie.bsky.social live broadcasts of an M. R. James story is one of my favourite holiday traditions.

I buy tickets for my family in Wisconsin so we can watch together from opposite sides of the Atlantic.

I hope you'll join us!

When will we get a del Toro remake of this one?
November 11, 2025 at 7:47 PM
I unreservedly loved del Toro's telling of FRANKENSTEIN. It seemed a deeply personal vision focusing on the father-son dynamic found so in so many of GDT's films. Plus you can never go wrong with his trademark circular window motif! A sumptuous achievement.

And now to revisit 1931 . . .

No idea what the exchange was about, but... 😂

And also, there's an article about the Yeats/Crowley incident in The Green Book.

There's a wee review of my new pamphlet, SOME THOUGHTS ON HORROR, over on LibraryThing. You can read the review here: www.librarything.com/work/3516421...

David Warner is such a John Carpenter actor. You can just see him clicking into place. It's a pity they didn't work together more.

It's a very grey-scale day in Dublin today.

Go Away White (2008) Finally, the capstone. I love this album. There will always be complainers that this isn't the old stuff. As for me, I think it retains elements of all four lads (why wouldn't it?) who have evolved as musicians over the 25 year interim. It's glammy, gothy, and Bauhausy.

Gotham (1998) Bauhaus's triumphant return. A live album, the lads are at the top of their game. With a set list that spans their career, everything now comes together as a magnificent whole: the songs, the sound, and the recording. Their cover of "Severance" is superb. Is this their best "album"?

Rest in Peace (1983) This is the final Bauhaus concert in 1983, which we now know was technically a hiatus until 1998. I've not been looking forward to listening to this one. Again, not the best recording, but it is a sort of final document to their first phase. Here we go . . .
