It's going to happen. You don't move lots of ships and people hundreds of miles and then not use them - see Gulf Wars 1 and 2, Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I'm hoping for a tax on tattoos and piercings, a Prosecco excise, extra taxes on all coffees except filter coffees, 40% VAT on dry robes and on any item of clothing with branding that takes up more than 5% of surface area

I sometimes wonder if ground crew were always reliable and hard-working. Or did you get some mechanics who were lazy and cut corners, leading to engine malfunctions, controls freezing or guns jamming? Would they get kicked out quickly, or ostracized, or were aircrew resigned to dealing with a Jonah?

Photos of RMS Rawalpindi show 2 funnels - 1 was removed on conversion to AMC. And the Daily Post report 30 November said it was the Deutschland that sunk her: my father was on the Hood and along with Dunkerque they thought they were searching for Deutschland not Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
