So getting upset with a t-shirt that reclaims the word and gives a more powerful status to those killed for it seems silly. Even today most people practice some form of magic, back then it was even more common. We are the grand daughters of those left able to breed. Unless we are male of course.

We know in history people were found guilty of being witches. Whatever the evidence, whatever they thought of themselves, they were found guilty of witchcraft. The definition we decide to give the word is irrelevant . They were found to be witches and were often executed for it.

I am older and in my youth a woman defined as a "bitch" was a negative. We denied being a bitch. Then we claimed the title and raised to a powerful status. Calling a woman a bitch is not the slur it once was. We will not be victims.

Understood. I think the difference here is that the author sees those found guilty of witchcraft only as victims, while others who reclaim the word witch elevate those tortured and killed to a more powerful status...
