The beauty of human connection stems from the things that have and haven't been communicated. From appreciation, anticipation and taking action. From understanding the meaning of words and actions beyond the superficial.

From love, compassion and genuine care.

Clicked nine different sorts of FlavDrops because they were ridiculously cheap during a clearance sale.

Should last a while. 😅

I propose replacing calories with watt-hours.

- Almost same value (1 kilocalorie / Calorie is ~1.1 watt-hours)
- more intuitive for people who use electricity
- never the confusing between calories (science), Calories (food, which is technically kilocalories), kilocalories, and 'kilo Calories' […]

So...Ghost (as in the CMS) and the great band).

Could do as a personal blog (self-hosted of course)?
And what about working as multiple blog tenant (as in different users having different blogs on the same platform)?

Self hosters, assemble!

When I was sick recently, I noted down a question I wanted to research later and then realised that it might be an interesting test case for an LLM search.

And sure enough, the answer to the exact same question went from "drug might be harmful" to "drug might be […]

Waiting for a parcel that seems to be stuck somewhere and asked the seller to investigate.

Little did I know that they'd base a (correct) psychoanalysis on my inquiry.

Read some good news in a Reddit post and the top up-voted comment is: "Suck on that, $person." I feel like that's most of "social" platforms now: Everything is rivalry. To gain the most traction, there needs to be an enemy. Good news therefore isn't just something to celebrate by itself within a […]

[Living with ME/CFS, Severe ME/CFS Awareness Day]

Phew, that's a tough read. I can relate to this text a lot more than I wish I could.

Honestly, I don't like sharing links that make people feel worse, but if you want a glimpse of what living with ME/CFS feels like, here you go […]

I wonder if conversational podcasts have – in part – become more popular because people have less long and meaningful conversations in their life.

At least for me, I'm pretty sure I'd feel even more lonely without being able to passively "participate" in conversations this way.

Is it just me or has reliability taken a huge hit in the last couple of years?

Like, whenever someone says "I'll call you back until the end of the week" I find that I have to ask back: "Okay, but when would be the time to call back myself if I didn't hear from you?" And more often than not […]

[Health (-)]

First infection ever since the infamous one that made me chronically ill more than two years ago.

Well, let's see how this goes. 🫠 For now: rest and tea it is.

Watching a few games of a 3x3 U21 tournament on YouTube. The live chat has a few people exchanging their bets.

- "What are the odds for a Greece victory?"
- "Do you think the game will go under 27.5?" "Not sure, I chose under 30.5"
- "Won all my bets today. :-)"

Not sure if these are fans of […]

The last time that we set foot on our moon was 1972. The main reason we stopped: money. It costs a lot of money and effort to send people to the moon and bring them back. It obviously cost even more when they started, as no one had done it before.

Still, when political leaders made it a […]

I want the EU to finally step up and make queue position and/or average waiting time a mandatory up-front information in call queues.

There's no reason to have queues without this "feature" in 2025. 😄

One of the things that I feel don't have an obvious online etiquette is unsolicited feedback.

A simple "I think this video would be (even) better with an instructive voice-over" can basically elicit every reaction from "Oh, that's a great idea! Thank you so much! 🥰" to "Nobody asked you, so […]

Hey tech-savvy people, does anyone know if there's a good way to turn any YouTube video into a podcast (episode)?

For a time, I used Listenbox, which extracted the audio and put it into a RSS feed so I could just put it into my podcatcher. It's not around anymore though.

The best way I could […]

I'm probably preaching to the choir, but one of the things that worry me is the fact that many private services on the internet feel like infrastructure or a public good at this point.

If I make a stupid reference that my wife doesn't relate to, I can open YouTube and show her a 13-year-old […]
