I think a very strong both technical and philosophical case can be made that all the intelligence is in language itself and if you took language away we'd actually not be that much brighter than chimps, and I'm not being flippant here. It literally looks like what we think of as intelligence is not something you should identify with the neural substrate it happens to be running on but with the constructs that we consider as language itself. In the statistics of language in the statistics of how one token is predicted after a stream of tokens that's actually intelligence and whatever substrate you put it on that inherits that aspect of intelligence. Now I'm not saying it's the only kind of intelligence there is, but the part of intelligence that's linguistically embodied is actually entirely linguistically embodied and not like you know neurally embodied. So I think actually the disingenuousness and the people who kind of should be apologetic and like do some moral soul searching is the ones who think that the ideas and thinking actually happens in their brains rather than in the construct of language.
