Absolutely! In terms of the environmental legacy we are leaving future generations, this horrifies me.

Do you know (roughly) how much hotter the steam released from nuclear is vs coal?

For the general public, understanding the relative differences between nuclear vs coal is really critical to cut through the data ‘noise’.

So given the relatively same water requirements for nuclear or coal in the steam cycle, that 25% is the additional load required because the fuel source is uranium (?) instead of coal.

Thanks, that makes sense. So outside of the steam cycle, is there a significant difference in water use for cooling?
