First assignment of Chinese Calligraphy: Horse class is...draw a horse. Not super happy with how it came out. I thought the reference drawing was kinda odd. My interpretation made it odder. But I did have fun sculpting it out from some other reference.

I got the monthly "Book" from the calligraphy school I'm enrolled in in Japan. I can't read it at all, but I've been told that I leveled up!
The stuff at the bottom is the lesson for March.

I've also been told that if I do the annual test, I'll likely level up at a faster rate. So we'll see.

In case anybody thinks I do calligraphy all day. Expanding these caption boxes to fit the English are a bit of work. #InnocentRouge #manga #darkhorsecomics

I've been superbusy with dayjob work and haven't had time to properly practice this month's lesson.
Using ink, I have to spend 30min cleaning the brush.
I'm happy that I can spontaneously put in a little practice with the magic cloth & water. It's not ideal, but s'okay.

I can more or less emulate the strokes, but I have yet to develop a discerning eye to decide which one is the best copy. Original otehan is the smaller one in the upper right.

What I DO know is that it's worth another try before I go to class

I haven't even gotten to this month's shodo otehan yet.

After doing some Chinese calligraphy homework, I had some leftover ink and did this. That's probably as close as I get to Inktober.

While everyone else is on day 23 or something, I'm on Day 5.
The past couple weeks have been really demanding of my time and I don't see things letting up much. I just have to remember to keep starting.
