This is how civilized countries negotiate and settle. The Whisky War.

Click through for the whole thread.
From 1973 to 2022, Canada and Denmark were at war.
Over the course of the war, several soldiers on both sides were wounded....by hangovers. And it was all fought over a tiny island the size of a city block.
Let's learn about The Whisky War!

I hadn’t realized that it was as early as 1853. Definitely glad they came up with the plunger apparatus, however.
The first hollow hypodermic needle was invented by Alexander Wood in 1853. It allowed drugs to be injected in the body under the skin. Accompanied by different length needles, this example is made from silver with a glass barrel. It works by turning the screw at the top to inject the liquid.

Her book on War Nursing has been incredibly helpful to my Canadian Army Medical Corps re-enacting unit. Write books and keep diaries, people — they’re invaluable to historians when you’re not around to tell the stories any more.
Violetta Thurstan was born #OTD in 1879.

Thurstan showed extraordinary bravery whilst nursing during WWI, persevering despite suffering serious wounds and also being taken prisoner at one stage. She was awarded the Military Medal in 1917 🎖 https://buff.ly/40CIwhr #HistNursing #RCN
