Trump notably redefined US #gender policy. It is difficult not to think this will mean an end to US implementation of the Women, Peace & Security agenda, which is 25+ yrs old this year.

What does the Trump presidency mean for Women, Peace and Security?
International peace and security requires due consideration of the world’s women. This is no radical social theory.

“The West must be willing once again to view the terrorism fight as worthy of time and resources, starting with an admission that countering terrorism cannot be done well from a great distance,” write Ahmad Zia Saraj and Jennifer A. Counter.
Over-the-horizon counterterrorism does not work. It’s time for a new approach.
Turning a blind eye to transnational terrorism that is presumed far away is dangerous, and prevention is far more impactful than relying on responses after the fact.

It has been 1184 days since the #Taliban's #GirlsEducationBan in #Afghanistan. A humanitarian exemption that allowed some to study nursing and midwifery has been removed bringing forward the skills shortage for #women #health workers & destroying the hopes of the few women who had been able to study

Blinken defends Afghanistan withdrawal at contentious House hearing
Washington — Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday defended President Biden's decision to withdraw from Afghanistan while appearing before the Republican-led House Foreign Affairs Committee, which has long sought to question him over the deadly evacuation.  "I firmly believe the president's decision to withdraw from Afghanistan was the right one," he told lawmakers.   Blinken declined to take the blame for decisions that were made leading up to the exit, explaining that actions taken by the first Trump administration left the Biden administration in a weak position and intelligence assessments expected Kabul to remain the hands of the Afghan government.
