I have been lucky enough to visit several Rembrandts and other Dutch Master paintings recently and am struck by how brilliance and idiocy can emerge from one small area over hundreds of years. (Of course and alas this applies far beyond borders)

Ironically, if they had used official channels the contact that wasn’t internal to government would have been immediately flagged, saving them from their belligerent, corrupt, & idiotic selves.
