Not very much as a young child, and then weird quasi-medieval tapestries which hung on iron rods and came from Belgium with my stepmother. I did not like them nor the hewn furniture that arrived alongside.

Ottoline is partly from the Chris Riddell books but also looked like an otter as a kitten; Hodge is a hodgepodge of all the cat colours… she has one ginger front leg, one tabby

After a while researching stately homes, esp the women, it’s nothing new either. Men build vast houses to show off; women hate living in them. A few even built themselves other places to live

It’s criminally local. Moved from London to Shepton and saw the carnival which blew my mind. Went into work in Bath the next day and no one knew what I was on about except one bloke who had grown up in Glastonbury.
