I have literally had to beg for a chair at a pre-dinner drinks session that went on for an hour in a bar with no seating at all, and the bar staff just kept saying "oh, you'll go in for dinner in 10 minutes".

Since getting a car in April, I have driven into town I think 3 times, only 1 of which would have passed a congestion charging point. And I could have claimed expenses for all of them if need be.

Where on Earth did the £70 come from? It's frustrating how much disinformation there is on these things.
<- has 100 free day passes and will be utterly miserable if I have to drive into Oxford more than a few times a month anyway

My veins thank you for your service. I have learned to tell people to ignore my visible veins and only go for palpable ones (which also run away, but less successfully.)

and does some sort of sensible naming for e.g. publication pdfs that download as 117.pdf, or sometimes, pdf.pdf

I was once first aiding for a bike road race (in the UK) and we had 3 casualties from when a deer just decided to jump them.

I'm lucky that I had a temporary disability, savings, a flexible job, and a supportive employer who has already reimbursed me for hundreds of pounds of taxi journeys. Drop any one of those and I could have been in real financial difficulty or losing my job.

Changing our course outline is a Massive PITA requiring multiple levels of approval that would probably take longer than a year. Luckily it's written broadly enough that we can change the actual course a lot while still adhering to it.

as a person, I do not find you intimidating. As an academic, rather more so, because you know so much about a topic that I am aware that I know very little about.
