Ask his best buddy Nancy Mace.

Ro isn’t a Democrat, he’s bought and paid for by tech oligarchs to fight against Democrats from within. I live in Silicon Valley, we know.

We’re looking for a place to sit in a crowded Admirals Lounge at a Florida airport & found seats open - next to this. We passed.

Thinking of @radiofreetom.bsky.social and the photos of people who take off their shoes on flights, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone do this in a lounge.

Ro has cozied up to Mace for a while now. This is from Mace’s Facebook page.

He’s the worst.

Excuse me, but aren’t you the ones who blamed Biden for why you had to lay off staffers instead of, y’know, your own poor management of your own business?!

GTFO.

Oh, it’s bad. I wrote a thread about all the egregious wrongness and just plain awful advice on the Spines website. For example, the website has an agent database (that I bet no agent opted into it) and they tell writers to find an agent AFTER publishing - like WTF?!

I could go in - this is a truly terrible company even without the AI nonsense - but honestly, would you trust your book to a company that offers these covers as shining examples of how AI makes authors’ lives better?

6) Spines will not protect the confidentiality of your work. This says to me that they aren’t concerned about security or piracy. 🚨 They also maintain the right to censor, edit and/or remove your book at their discretion. 🚨
November 25, 2024 at 3:31 PM
5) Spines’s T&C set off 🚨. Here, they assert ownership of any files they create for you. Sure, you maintain copyright over the content, but they maintain ownership over files and you can’t use them without Spines’s permission. You’d have to pay a 3rd party to recreate the files if you leave Spines.
November 25, 2024 at 3:25 PM
4) Spines appears to be a flat fee service per its pricing page - but both the terms and conditions and the TechCrunch article mention subscriptions. But I couldn’t find subscription pricing or explanation of subscription services anywhere on the Spines website.
November 25, 2024 at 3:17 PM
3) Spines lies on its front page. They do not offer 100% sales royalties - per terms and conditions they take a 30% cut of royalties earned as their distribution fee, so I’m assuming this means they’re taking 30% of the 70% remaining once Amazon, etc, takes their bite of the sales price.
November 25, 2024 at 2:51 PM
2) The CEO seems uniformed about publishing and the market, vastly misrepresenting both who gets trad deals and the costs of self pub in the Bookseller article, while being unable to answer questions about the general market and what is selling - yet Spines supposedly will help market your book.
November 25, 2024 at 2:40 PM
1) Spines gives bad advice on its website. They offer an agent database (why? They are a self-pub service. Agents facilitate trad deals) but advise users the best time to seek an agent is after publishing your book.

This is patently false.

We know the last Trump admin was great for the media business. They regained the losses caused by digital disruption. Axios outright blamed the stability of the Biden admin for why it had to layoff staffers. The media absolutely wanted a second Trump admin.

Today’s purchases from the local book store. Felt particularly appropriate today.

L: Violent Little Thing journal based on Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

R: The World We Make by N. K. Jemisin, the second book in the Great Cities duology.

Cute animal checkpoint.

Do not pass this checkpoint without depositing your own animal photo.
