Chiefly here to increase my TBR pile. All assistance gratefully received.
The subject is “one” and “doesn’t“ is the correct verb. Its proximity to the plural noun in the modifying phrase really messes with the brain circuitry, though. I’d rephrase as “one child out of three doesn’t” just to avoid that.

So was that heavily-thumbed copy of Dr. Spock my parents had really written by ChatGPT and forced to time travel? That would explain so many things.

Hmmm. I fear you may be courting “I hereby return your regards, for truly only you are worthy of them.”

We appreciate your efforts on our behalf.

Well, that’s certainly never a mistake! Oddly, one of the things AI has gotten better about lately is accurately identifying human tone. It’s a little startling.
November 2, 2025 at 11:49 PM
Moral issues will remain, even if it can out-perform humans on accuracy some day. (That clearly won’t be soon, because industry has decided it is accurate enough.) I’m done here.

Clearly I’ve angered you, and I’m sorry about that. You have a more sophisticated grasp of economic systems and development than most, and I think your arguing effectively about AI matters. I think its propensity to error is both its most human aspect and likely to get better over time.
November 2, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Absolutely. Perpetually expanding economic growth is a highly problematic model. (The tiny “you really wanted to type this” AI wanted me to say “desirable trait.”) The fake smartness can’t correct our thinking. We’re going to have to do that ourselves. Sooner would be better.

Likely you wouldn’t be allowed to without several iterations of counseling and a maturation of the company’s review processes. Also, did you truly get through college without bs-ing about something you were supposed to read and had not?

Experienced judgment is a highly desirable trait that nonetheless often falls victim to layoffs because it is not cheap.

You worked a help desk at one point, if I recall correctly. There are always categories of error that are considered acceptable that must be cleaned up on the back end.
November 2, 2025 at 8:23 PM
In what way is this not an objection to interns? Human beings make mistakes all the time. We hope they learn from them. We expect them to learn from them. That may be the critical shortcoming of AI rather than the mistakes themselves.

This is presumptuous, but if that’s Sun 3 you’re tangling with, it’s the most high-stakes part of the narrative. The end of Alexander’s career is just difficult. I can’t imagine what you’re going to do with it, which is a lot of my investment with the series. Sun 2 surprised me often & was great.

My husband was in this place with a work project on Tuesday and today he’s feeling positive about it, which is a fairly regular occurrence. I’ve concluded that it’s actually a step in his gestational process. I’ve read pretty much everything from Jaran on. It’s never crap when you’re done.

It might have seemed mad once. We’re clearly at that tea party where there’s jam tomorrow and jam yesterday but never jam today. We’re all mad here.

In recent years they’ve been very hard to find. Melissa’s Produce offers them online as a speciality item. I wanted them badly enough to order some last year. They were good. Not cost effective, but good.

Trying to process my knowledge of history to fit “just never cruel enough.” Failing miserably.
October 29, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Dear God. Must we try everything cruel that historically has never worked?
October 29, 2025 at 6:07 PM
That seems to be working.

Not usually, but now you’ve mentioned it, and my feet squish. What’s the counterspell? Think very hard about The Word for World Is Forest?

Truly.

Thank you for pointing it out.
