My friend Tom donated on Facebook! Here is his sweet kitty.

Thank you for donating! Roxanne is a fine specimen of a gecko! I do not know if that’s true but he seems smooth and also his spots are very symmetrical, which I assume is a mark of a quality gecko. My drawing is not!

Ben! This is wonderful, thank you so much! Anya is lovely. My drawing is not, as advertised!

Proof that I can draw animals badly (2/3)

I have grabbed little Izzy’s head so many times to stop her from eating random bits of trash, sometimes she lets out the tiniest little “meep” when I do it and obviously I am history’s greatest MONSTER (and I feel bad for HOURS! It’s not fair!) (photo of the little trash goblin)

I started crushing pretzels at 6:45 am and then I realized the neighbors might not appreciate that 😬

I just don’t think this Doctor is respectful of his knitwear.

So I was doing yoga and I moved my leg back at the exact moment when Izzy came around the corner of the bed and I

kicked her body like the football

and now I absolutely deserve

jail for one thousand years

but she’s already forgiven me and she’s snoozing right next to me but I feel so bad 😭

Happy Halloween!

Izzy really likes the new quilt! I think her ears are sideways because she thought I was going to move her (I did not).

When Izzy opens her eyes super wide like this she looks like a Gelfling from the Dark Crystal

My Halloween quilt is done! It’s still pretty stiff, I think it’ll need to be washed a few times to really settle down. But I’m super proud of it.

But I just started Frankenstein - oops

I spent three hours on my quilt today, it won’t be perfect but that’s okay. It will be good enough. This is growth for me, a weirdo perfectionist about many things. (Also the variance will likely disappear when it’s washed, perhaps I’m not fully reformed.) (photo is from before I finished piecing.)

WHAT A DAY
October 6, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Me: I think I want to wear my cat necklace to my next interview

Tilly: sure, just turn it so the cat butt side doesn’t show

Me: no

She still chases her tail even though she’s technically an adult, and every time it’s still hilarious. Loud noises don’t scare her, they offend her, because how dare you.

The world is awful but a snuggly cat helps.

She’s our funny sweet girl, and I’m grateful for her healing presence every day.

Izzy now rules the place, as is her right. The corner spots of the couch are hers, and she’ll paw at you until you move and let her lie there. She also paws at us under the comforter if the sheet isn’t just right.

Eventually she and Henry became friends, of course. He still finds her annoying, and she loves him more than he deserves, but his anxiety is almost gone. Sometimes he even plays with her. He’s nine years old, and he likes watching her play more than he likes actually playing because he’s lazy.

She slept on our bed at night, on top of the comforter, until one night she went under the comforter. I tried to stop her but, well. Cats. Eventually I let her under the comforter but on top of the top sheet. And she does this most nights now. She snuggles her whole body against us or between us.

At first Izzy liked people a lot more than she liked Henry. She’d been brought to the shelter at four weeks old, so she didn’t have experience with strange cats. We kept her in our bedroom at first so she could adjust, and I worked while sitting on the bed. The bed quickly became her safe place.

Izzy was asleep in a crate with her sister. The foster asked if I wanted to hold her. I held her briefly (which was a lie, she HATES to be held, lol). Then I reached out to pet her on the head. The foster warned me she didn’t like that, but to her surprise Izzy let me pet her head. We took her home.

I cried when I realized I needed to get another cat for him. And I saw Izzy’s picture on the shelter web site and I knew she was the one. I turned in the application for her on Election Day, a Tuesday (she was being fostered). We went to the shelter to meet her on Saturday. She was seven months old.
