Great piece @javier. Meta has long disregarded the majority world and blithely damaged it, as you say. I wonder how far Zuck will go now in bowing out of CoMo, and kowtowing to other governments. Will they dump fact-checking worldwide, for instance? I would expect so, since it's not free.

Also high on the list of horribles is outsourcing lots of content moderation to "Community Notes" i.e. aping Elon. Moderating content at the margins is indeed hard, and Meta has done it poorly, but this will be worse. It's like turning surgery over to the first and loudest people who volunteer.
