Agnès Callamard nails the appalling truth. 👏 UN member states have done fuck all to stop genocide, and so easily could!
Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes
Callamard says the world is 'addicted to profit' and complicit in Gaza genocide

In this piece Omer Bartov not only points out that what Israel is doing in Gaza is clearly genocide - he comments on the deafening silence of historians and other scholars. We must speak out and denounce it.

Israel has been besieging Gaza - again - for two months. No food, water, or medicine allowed in. Children and babies, not to mention their exhausted and terrified parents, are starving. I share responsibility for this obvious act of genocide, and am desperate to do something to stop it. What?

“It’s ridiculous that they’re claiming to do this in the name of protecting American Jews. How are you helping Jews by taking away educational opportunities at institutions with thousands of Jewish students? …That will obviously fuel antisemitism.”

My Jews! Do not let them use and endanger you.
"These people do not care about Jews. They are deeply antisemitic." @lilygreenbergcall.bsky.social on how dangerous it is for the Trump administration to use Jews as justification for the abduction of Palestinian student activist Mahmoud Khalil.

Yes! 👏👏@Maryannefranks@bsky.social
This is exactly the right way to respond to a request for testimony about the “censorship industrial complex.”
WOW. Watch a constitutional law expert completely DEBUNK Republicans’ censorship crusade, while articulating exactly how Donald Trump is threatening freedom of speech. 🔥

"[T]he First Amendment prohibits public officials from excluding citizens from public forums" so you can't go hide from the people by moving public meetings online, Mike. Thank you @jameeljaffer.bsky.social @alexabdo.bsky.social and other authors of that great letter.

Yes you are. The United States has done it before and neither side of the American political class finds it too controversial that Israel has been leveling entire buildings for nearly 18 months, massacring and maiming tens of thousands of civilians, to get to a few fighters.
Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

Well.
LOOOOOOOOOL

The same judge who is overseeing the case where the government is invoking "state secrets" to avoid telling the court when the planes took off (which is public) & who was on the planes (many of whom the media have reported)

has the case about the admin sharing war plans with the media.

Honestly, it was so thoughtful for all the Trump folks to make stupid denials on camera yesterday — some under oath! — so this revelation would land so much harder.
The Atlantic and @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social are committing journalism today.

They have a vetted mega-scoop. They handled it responsibly.

The WH and Admin lied about it.

The Atlantic called their bluff.

The material released just now is even more damning for the Trump team.

@georgetownlaw.bsky.social Bill Treanor shows us all how to do it in a letter glowing with principles, truth, snark, dignity, the Constitution and cojones, which US academia's other leaders are mostly not exhibiting.
Pitch-perfect response to Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin from @georgetownlaw.bsky.social Dean Bill Treanor.

It’s always a privilege and honor to be part of the GULC community (and to be Bill’s colleague), but *especially* today.

Yes, hardball. And for Gaza ofc. Even though Biden has just opened the floodgates for more weapons though Israel did not meet his own conditions, he can still relieve some of the hideous suffering there. open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...
