Do you agree? Charter School Financial Statements issued after HB 1259 (2023) took effect should have disclosed the relationship between the lessor and the charter school.  If they didn’t, the financial statements should be resubmitted.

Does Senator Gaetz really not understand that 25% (plus one) of the parents of the students at the school could convert a neighborhood school to a charter school under his bill? Majority have to vote so that’s 50% plus one.
Of those, 50% plus one have to vote yes. That is 50% of 50%.

A Florida legislator introduced a bill, HB 123, that will make it easier for charter schools to take over public schools. I spoke out against it at a local school board meeting, telling parents and board members how it would harm our school district.

Florida needs to stop capital outlay funding to charter schools. We need neighborhood schools NOT charter schools.

SB 140 proposed in Florida is the opposite of what we need. How do we amplify the problem of capital outlay funding charter school leases?
